ABOUT THE RACE

The 2008 Life Checklist Nordegg Marathon MTB Race will be held south of town in the hills of Nordegg, Alberta. This MTB Marathon race will be held on some of the best mountain singletrack around. This Marathon MTB Race will be approximately 60kms in distance, held on a 10km course. Each lap will have lung-burning climbs and hair brain decents. Maybe we’ll throw in some fun twisty flats too. Be sure to stick around for Draw Prizes and a chilly cook off.

The 2008 Life Checklist Nordegg Marathon MTB Race is sanctioned by the Alberta Bicycle Association.

Alberta MTB Racing strives to provide fun, well-organized, and super-duper races.  We try to ensure that all riders of all abilities enjoy the highest degree of safety, fairness, and the spirit of competition.

PRIZING

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 10 finishers overall.

The Top 3 Category (ie: Sport, Expert, etc) will be recognized as well.

All competitors are eligible for draw prizes.

CATEGORIES

The Nordegg Marathon race will be run by ability based categories, however, there will be only one mass start.

ELITE (Men & Women)

EXPERT (Men & Women)

SPORT (Men & Women)

NOVICE (Men & Women)

If you are not a licensed member of the ABA, you must enter the Sport Category.

This is self ceding event, so please line up at the start line where you think you should be – if you think you should be a the front – line up at the front – if not, let others line up in front of you.  Remember this is an endurance race, not a sprint.

All Marathon participates will race one distance ~60kms.

The course lap will be approximately 6kms – so the race will be 6 laps.

We will also offer a less intimidating ½ Marathon race (~30kms).  This race is intended for those who think ~60kms might be a little to far.  No sandbaggers allowed! It’s half the distance, but all the fun!
